Former captain of the Black Stars, Stephen Appiah, has mentioned the role of the media in the pursuit of an amicable solution to the feud between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS).
The media, touted as the ‘third force’ of Ghana football have stoked the flames of the feud between the two bodies with sections of it taking sides at times.
The football icon has described the bad precedent of media houses taking sides as “disturbing” especially considering how the Black Stars are engaged in a qualification battle for the 2018 World Cup to be staged in Russia.
He said: ” We cannot attribute Black Stars’ failure to secure all three points against Uganda due to the wranglings surrounding the team. It’s mandatory for the stakeholders, including the media to play their role in resolving the issue.”
He also expressed his belief in the players to make the country’s fourth appearance at the end of the qualifiers.
Ghana will take on the Pharaohs of Egypt in a 2018 World Cup qualifier on November 13 at the Borg El Arab Stadium, outside of Alexandria, Egypt.
