Andrew Ayew stepped up from the bench to get an assist in his side’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in the English premier League on Monday night.
Ayew, replaced Algerian Sofiane Fighouli with 20 minutes to end the game, and with his side trailing by two goal but did enough to give the Hammers a fighting chance at the end.
The 27-year-old was quick to react to a loose pass by Azipilicueta to set up Argentine Mauel Lanzine who hit the ball hard and low pass Thibaut Courtois in post for Antonio Conte’s men.
Chelsea looked superior on the night with Eden Hazard opening the scoring in the first half, profiting from yet another interception from N’Golo Kante who released jet-heeled winger Pedro, to set up Hazard for Chelsea’s first goal.
One quickly became two in the second half after Diego Costa scored his 18th goal of the season and give the run-away champions a breather.
Ayew’s quick thinking meant West Ham United halved the scoreline but the Blues won’t bother too much after taking all three points.
However its beginning to look good for Ayew who has build on scoring his first goal for the Hammers in 2017 last week, this time providing an assist.
