The Algerian national team coach who urged Lorient to sign the youngest son of Abedi Pele has lauded the move and believes Jordan can develop more with the Ligue 1 side
Newly-appointed Algerian national team coach Christian Gourcuff insists Ghanaian youngster Jordan Ayew is a quality player with better prospect.
The former coach of Lorient was interested in signing the Ghanaian striker before he left for Africa.
“Jordan Ayew is a player with great potential, a young player with a future ahead of him, and can get better,” Gourcuff told L’equipe.
“The fact that he chose to come is certainly a sign of ambition. But it also corresponds to a real need to strengthen, because we lost major players. That’s how we stay competitive.”
He added: “Lorient is the ideal club for the younger brother of Andre Ayew for him to show his talent.”
Lorient paid four million Euros to Marseille for the services of the Ghanaian who was part of Ghana’s World Cup squad in Brazil.
