Ghana winger Albert Adomah has rated his strike for Aston Villa in their 2-0 win over Birmingham City in the Birmingham derby as his second best.
The 30-year-old’s excellent run inside from the left culminated in him slamming a shot past David Stockdale to send Villa Park into ecstasy.
However, when he was asked whether it was his best ever, the former Middlesbrough wide-man recalled a tale from his non-league days.
“The best goal of my career was for Harrow Borough against AFC Wimbledon, honest!
“No one can take that away from me. I know I scored against Blues at the Holte End but my best ever goal was for Harrow in semi-professional football.”
“It was the winning goal in a 2-1 win. I also set up Jamie Lawrence to score as well! I will say this one is the second best because it was against Blues in front of the Holte End.”
“That’s one for the history books and it’s one for me to hopefully tell my grandchildren about one day. It was a great second goal from Conor too.”
The goal was Adomah’s 13th in the league as Villa climbed to 2nd on the league standings.
