Cairo giants Al Ahly are close to completing the signing of Ghana striker Ebenezer Assifuah from FC Sion in a deal worth $1 million, SportsObama.com has gathered.
The Black Stars attacker has been one of the most coveted players for the Swiss side, with the club said to have rejected bids from several clubs earlier in the transfer window.
According to sources in the North African country, the record CAF Champions League champions are close to agreeing a deal with the former Liberty Professionals striker with Ghana FA Vice President George Afriyie hugely involved in the deal.
Assifuah’s CV has been shown to Ahly’s manager Hosam El Badry who is said to have admitted interest in the player – giving the board a go ahead to strike a deal.
Assifuah was a member of the Ghana Under-20 national team that took part in the 2013 FIFA U-20 tournament in Turkey where he finished as the tournament’s leading goal scorer with 6 goals.
After being top goal scorer at the FIFA U-20 Championship 2013 in Turkey he moved to the Swiss side FC Sion signing a 5-year contract.
