A 55th minute free-kick converted by Pius Lawer was enough for Akosombo FC to defeat Right to Dream 1-0 in the week 15 midweek fixture of the ongoing Eastern Regional Division Two league.
Both teams created many chances in the first half, with Right to Dream slightly on top, but they failed to utilise them.
In the 40th minute, Right to Dream came close to scoring the opening goal, when Akosombo FC goalkeeper, Maxwell Eshun failed to grab a shot and one of his defenders, Raged Amoah had to clear the ball from the goal line.
The home side kept pushing forward for the opener but the defenders of Akosombo FC kept them at bay.
Hodagni Dodzi, an offensive midfielder of Akosombo FC hit the crossbar in the 47th minute.
The captain of Right to Dream, Isaac Addo nearly equalised in the 79th minute but his bicycle kick hit the crossbar and bounced back into play.
With the victory, Akosombo FC has moved to the top of the zone one league with 33 points and would face second placed Krystal Palace in a local derby and the last league match at the Akosombo sports stadium on Sunday.
