Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu was happy to make a return from illness with a splendid second-half performance that helped Udinese Calcio defeat Pescara 3-1 in the Serie A on Sunday.
After being hospitalised for days in Ghana following gastroenteritis (stomach flu) contracted during the international break, Badu sat out their 2-1 defeat to Juventus last weekend but made a return to the set up against Pescara, replacing Rodrigo Javier de Paul on 57th minute.
A brace from Cyril Thereau and a strike from Duvan Esteban Zapata handed Udinese their first win in five games while Alberto Aquilani got the consolation for the visitors.
“The past two weeks have been very difficult for me. After the international break with my national team, I faced several setbacks and although I am not back to my full fitness, I think I am getting better,” Badu told Udinese TV.
“I wanted to help the team today and we had a good game by defeating Pescara thanks to my teammates, coaches and the supporters,” he added.
Udinese travel to Stadio Renzo Barbera on Thursday to lock horns with Palermo and Badu wants his teammates to get over their current joy to record another victory.
“We have to keep our cool and work hard towards our next game against Palermo on Thursday evening. We need another win in that game.”
Udinese have moved one place up to 16th position with 10 points.
