The Ghana midfielder scored the winning goal before being sent off late in his team’s 3-2 away win on Sunday
It was an unforgettable day for Afriyie Acquah as he scored what turned out the winner in Torino’s 3-2 victory at Cagliari on Sunday.
The 24-year-old Ghanaian was then sent off very late for a foul on Brazilian Joao Pedro.
Playing his 15th game of the season (eighth start), Acquah scored a stunner on 53 minutes after being set up by Iago Falque to make it 3-1.
Marco Borriello opened scoring from the penalty spot for the hosts on 19 minutes before Adam Ljajic equalized for Torino on 33 minutes. Andrea Belotti sent the visitors into the lead six minutes later.
Acquah’s goal came eight minutes into the second half and it was a lead that Torino held onto until the Ghanaian was sent off in injury time for his second yellow card for the tackle on Pedro.
Kwang-Song Han then nodded in from a corner kick to make it 3-2 five minutes into injury time, but it was too late for Cagliari to make a successful fight back.
Acquah scored his first goal of the season in a 2-2 draw with Inter last month.
