The Premier League Board in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association have officially unveiled the trophy for the 2016 Ghana Premier League.
The giant trophy was unveiled at the Press Center of the Ghana Football Association in Accra, Ghana, on Thursday 4th August 2016.
The trophy which comes with a prize package of $30000 will be given to the winner of the 2016 Ghana Premier League which is being keenly contested for by as many as five clubs with eight matches to go.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the Chairman of the Premier League Board, Ashford Tetteh Oku noted that the Premier League trophy has always been provided by title sponsors of the league but the GFA and the PLB are providing it this time around.
He added that this year’s league must be celebrated by all for the level of competitiveness and the historical achievements being achieved despite the fact that there are eight more matches to go.
Adding to that, acting President of the Ghana Football Association, Nana Benyin Eyisson noted that the 2014/15 league trophy which was provided by then title sponsors, First Capital Plus Bank, and have hence customised it, making it necessary for the FA to get a new one.
The new giant trophy which was imported from Italy is 67cm in height and 40cm in width.
