Reverend J.K.C.K. Tengey, Greater Accra Regional Pastor of the Great Commission Church International (GCCI) has encouraged Christians to strive to know God better.
He said knowing God would them the peace and joy that would enable them to have fulfilling lives and ultimately grow more and more into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Rev Tengey made the remarks in his sermon over the weekend during the GCCI, Greater Accra Zonal Easter Convention at Ada-Foah.
The four-day convention on the theme: “Striving to Know God Better” brought together all branches of the Church in the Region. He urged Christians to promote team work and preach the good news in order to win more souls into the Kingdom of God.
Rev Tengey stressed on the point that when the Lord sends someone forth, the person needs to wait upon Him and pray to know His will for his or her life and ministry.
He said in striving to know God better one has to surrender his/her life to Jesus and seek God consistently in prayer; declaring that “even Mary, the mother of Jesus, strove together with the rest of the disciples who met in the Upper Room praying for days to receive the Holy Ghost”.
“Those who worship God have to be in God’s presence for long. Jesus early in the morning usually goes to a solitary place and prayed to the Father. As you get to prayer, for long hours, you will hear from God,” he said.
Rev Tengey said in spending time with God, a Christian would also receive divine instructions from Him concerning His perfect will.
