Knii Lante is a Ghanaian based musician, born Nii Okunka Blankson who has been in the music scene since 1988 right from school to the mid 1990’s; when his interest in music grew from singing and performing to writing his songs and also with the growing passion he started writing for other artist who showed interest.
Having completed medical school and currently practicing, (after a short break from his number one passion) Knii Lante blends the power of the music to the soft touch of a doctors care with his notably humorous style of communication to the satisfaction of all he comes to contact with both at the clinic or when making music.
After some collaborations with some artists like Blakk Rasta a reggae artist based in Ghana on his “Barrack Obama” tune which was dedicated to the NOW President of the United States of America Barrack Hussein Obama during his candidacy. He later featured on Michael Dwamena’s Ngozi (high life) track which won an award in 2007/2008 for “Collaboration of the Year”. Knii Lante recorded his debut sixteen track album title “Love & Revolution”, a mix of different music genres from Zouk, Ballads, Afro pop etc… And his most preferred genres reggae and soul.
At the just ended Ghana music award Knii Lante received the award for Best Male Vocalist for the 2010/2011 Ghana Music Awards out of the two nominations that he got (album of the year/male vocalist of the year).
With a sweet voice and admirable showmanship Knii Lante has won the heart of many with his performance on different platforms including performances at the Alliance Francaise under the patronage of the French government in Accra. His biggest performance was at the recent Bob Marley bash at the Labadi beach in Accra celebrating the birthday of Robert Nesta Marley one of Knii’s influences; an occasion which was graced with the presence of the wife of the legend Nana Rita Marley.
Knii Lante aside his reggae preferences also loves to listen to Michael Jackson and Luther Vandross with an iconic vocal power when he (Knii Lante) recorded a rendition of Luther Vandross’s classic “so amazing”. Knii Lante is a lover of music and it tells on anything he does, very funny and a good manager of time. On stage he is the lightening to watch and in the hospital he is the doctor you want to leave your life with and easy to work with in the studio.
Knii Lante is also politically “Conscious”, often advocating Equal opportunity ie. Egalitarianism, African Unity, Revolution, World Peace etc… Knii plays acoustic guitar and piano to his pleasure, and is a singer set to become one of the best African singers-songwriter- musician and a true soldier for pan- Africanism.
Knii Lante is currently practicing medicine at The SSNIT Hospital in Osu-Accra and actively recording in the studios some singles and a second album. He currently is not attached to any record label but has a small record company (DELUGE ENTERTAINMENT) which manages his promotions and music activities for him.
