Members of the Bolgatanga Zongo Youth, a pro-New Patriotic Party pressure group, say Former President John Dramani Mahama should do the honourable by vacating his official residence for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to the Zongo Youth members, it is shocking that the ex-leader is still occupying the apartment against the constitution, which demands that he vacates his residence before handing over.
The threats of the Zongo Youth come on the wake of demands by the former president to occupy his residence of eight years as part of his retirement package.
But in a press conference in the Upper East Region capital on Tuesday, January 10, the Bolgatanga Zongo Youth emphasised that “if [Ex-President Mahama] fails to leave, then we expect him to be forced out of that house through due process”.
They called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo not to grant the former President’s request to stay in that residence.
“The request by John Mahama is unlawful,” they stressed.
They also asked the president to fulfil his pledge to Zongo youth as related during the election campaign period.
“We know that given the level of expertise of your Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, your government will implement economic policies that will ensure total change in the living standards of the entire populace.”
