An expert has advised that the numerous cases of ‘missing names’ from the Special Voters’ register should be investigated.
Theodore Dzeble, a former Communications Officer for the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), said the situation has been embarrassing.
Mr Dzeble made the suggestion in a discussion on 3FM on Sunday.
The discussion was about the second day of Special Voting, which appeared to have failed to remedy the problem it was decided to solve.
An emergency meeting of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) agreed on the second day of special voting after several cases of security officers, journalists, health workers and electoral officers not finding their names in the register on Thursday, December 1.
But Sunday has also seen several cases of missing names with some security officers calling the extension useless.
The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) says the register on Sunday is not any new from that used on Thursday.
Therefore, it said, those whose names are not in the old register cannot find their names in the new one.
Mr Dzeble told Johnny Hughes on 3FM that investigations must be conducted as to whether the list was updated or not or whether the officers failed to apply to be part of the special voting or not.
The Commission has, however, indicated that those whose names are not in the list can vote on Wednesday, December 7 before assuming their duties.
