President Akufo Addo has given indications that special policies and programs would be implemented within the next four years to better the life of farmers in the country especially women in agriculture.
The president Akufo Addo bemoaned the poor state of Ghana’s agriculture indicating that the stressful and manpower based process makes it unattractive for the youth of the country who may be interested in the pursuing this path.
In view of this the president has indicated that for the next four years his administration would modernize the profession which he says is a pivotal part of Ghana’s growth and development.
He said “governments vision for the next four years is to modernize agriculture, improve production efficiency, achieve food security and profitability for our farmers.
“District Assemblies and traditional authorities will be assigned specific roles in agriculture development and we will adopt policies specifically targeted at supporting women in Agriculture” Nana Addo added.
The president was speaking at the 2017 edition of the New Years School which is aimed at raising and discussing national issues that shape government policies.
This year’s theme is on Agricultural development and ICT.
