A leading member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has extolled the qualities of his party’s presidential candidate, saying Ivor Kobina Greenstreet is better than all the others.
He said some aspirants lack good morals and, so, cannot be candidates for the presidency.
“We prefer people who are weak in their lower limbs than those who are weak in their morals and moral upbringing,” he said about Mr Greenstreet, who lost his lower limbs in a motor accident years ago.
Mr Pratt Jnr, a veteran journalist, made this known on Saturday, October 29 during the launch of the CPP’s 2016 manifesto.
He delivered the foreign policy of the party, noting that that policy “has not changed and it will never change”.
According to him, the foreign policy of the party was well couched on the eve of Ghana’s independence by first president Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
“Our foreign policy is that we stand for the freedom of all people in Africa,” he said quoting from Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s ‘the independence of Ghana will be meaningless unless it is linked to the total liberation of the African continent’ statement.
Mr Pratt Jnr stressed that everything in a party’s manifesto is doable but expressed wonder how some parties cannot defend policies in their manifestos.
“We will accept every and any challenge and ready to debate anybody,” he threw an open challenge to all.
“Some candidates are running away from debates,” he observed. “We will not run away from debate”.
He said CPP’s candidate is ready to debate any other presidential candidate especially now that there is a possibility of five for the December 7 polls.
Lawyer Ivor Kobina Greenstreet is contesting the presidency for the first time and on the ticket of a party that won Ghana its independence.
The party has changed flagbearers for every single election since the turn of this century with the candidates of the two previous elections, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom in 2008 and Dr Abu Sakara Forster in 2012, subsequently, seceding from the party.
