Budding Afro Soul singer Nana Frema (NFK) has described musician Stephanie Benson as a woman with ‘soul’ and believes she is the only successful female soul singer in Ghana
The sexy mother of 5 began studying the piano at the tender age of 3 and her desire was as a direct result of her father playing the piano in the evenings before bedtime.
At the age of 8, she was sent to the National Academy of Music, where she also learned to play the violin and cello.
Stephanie later started developing her writing skills and began writing and collaborating with other writer/artistes including the likes of Andy Hill (Bucks Fizz), Terry Britton (Tina Turner) Danny Schogger (Celine Dion), Wayne Vaughn (Earth Wind and Fire), Rob Davis (Kylie Minogue), and Stevie Wonder among others.
Speaking exclusively to 3news.com, the stunning musician-cum-actress described Stephanie as a woman with an outstanding voice which blows her mind.
“I can say she is the only successful female soul singer in Ghana and at her age she still looks hot with 5 kids and her successful marriage is every woman’s dream.
“I love her personality and the way she carries herself and one thing that blows my mind is her outstanding voice, she said with a smile”.
She recalled the first time she came into contact with Stephanie during the Vodafone Icon competition some six years ago in which she placed 3rd, describing her as a woman with “soul”.
“I first came into contact with her 6 years ago when she was a judge at Vodafone Icons season one Divas edition and as a judge she wasn’t an easy one but I realised she has ‘soul’ and she said things as they were and was never bias.
“She made us know what was right and wrong and made sure we did our best, making her a woman to look out for and a person to look up to which makes me take so much inspiration from her.”
Nana Frema however did not forget the yellow gown given to her by Stephanie which she wore for the grand finale of the competition.
“Back in the competition, my weight affected the wardrobe which she thought wasn’t right so she promised to buy me a cosset from London which she did.
“I had even forgotten about it [the promise], but then she proved herself loyal and gave me a yellow gown which I wore on the season’s final as a gift”.
Nana Frema has a single titled ‘Sweet Boy’ which she released in 2015.
