The Saboba District Police Command has mounted a manhunt for two persons namely Amin also known as Atingo Rasta and Olu, both said to be activists of the National Democratic Congress in the Saboba Constituency.
This follows alleged physical attacks on Saboba-based Gaaki Radio presenter Mathias Licho, teacher Williams Amuzu and another person, whose name was given only as Abeiku.
Mathias Licho is said to have been attacked on the evening of Monday, November 14 at about 8:00pm after he had curiously approached a group of people at the Saboba Community Center to enquire the reason for their gathering.
According tom reports, the radio presenter upon reaching the scene established a confusion had broken between supporters of an independent parliamentary candidate, Joseph Amuzu, who defected from the National Democratic Congress and the incumbent Member of Parliament, Joseph Bukari Nikpe.
Lack eluded Mathias when Amin popularly known as Atingo Rasta rained slaps on him. The slaps were repeated by Joshua Chema Yadang and Olu, who also took from the journalist an audio recorder, a digital camera, a wallet and phone.
The incident was immediately reported to the Saboba District Police, where the case was booked but no arrest was made.
A subsequent statement was made by the victim on Tuesday, November 15 but attempts by the police to make arrests proved futile as the suspects fled the district.
According to the Mathias Licho, the instructions to slap him came from the District Chief Executive, Adolf Ali, and the Northern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress Chief Sofo Azorka, who had arrived in the district to resolve an impasse between supporters of the two parliamentary candidates.
However, 3news.com has gathered following the fleeing of the duo, the District Police Command has begun a manhunt to smoke Amin and his accomplice out to face the law.
Efforts to speak to the Regional NDC Chairman and the District Chief Executive Adolf Ali for their side of the allegations prove futile.
