Although the Commission had disqualified Dr Nduom on just one ground, the party says just after the Supreme Court ruled Monday that they be given the chance to correct that error, the EC claimed it had uncovered more irregularities on his nomination forms.
Speaking on 3FM’s Sunrise morning show Tuesday, the party’s National Vice Chairman, William Dowokpor, said they will go ahead to correct the only error the EC initially identified and should the EC dare disqualify Dr Nduom, they will go to court again.
“We will make the one correction and submit, but if the EC will not corporate with us in that manner, then we will head to the courts again” Mr Dowokpor told host of the show, Winston Amoah.
He claimed information they are getting suggest the error on Dr Nduom’s nomination form has shot up from one to 82, adding “we believe sincerely that the Supreme Court would not have given 48 hours if it knew the number of errors. So it creates some suspicion around the real motive of the EC.
Other presidential nominees who were disqualified are battling the EC over similar surprises, which put them against the 5:00pm deadline given them by the Supreme Court.
Already, some of the parties are exploring legal avenues to get the courts to call the Electoral Commission to order over its latest action that has widely been condemned and criticised by stakeholders.
