Parliament has finally approved the nomination of the Nkwanta South Member of Parliament, John Oti Bless as a deputy Local Government and Rural Development Minister.
His nomination was confirmed on Wednesday when Members of Parliament adopted the 19th report of the Appointments Committee.
John Oti Bless was nominated together with some deputy ministers in July but Parliament failed to approve his nomination following some controversial comments he made during a radio discussion.
A New Patriotic Party activist even petitioned the Speaker of Parliament to reject him for making disparaging comments about the Chief Justice on Accra-based Montie FM. Some minority in parliament also protested his nomination after an audio tape emerged that he has denigrated the judiciary, and therefore does not deserve his position.
John Oti Bless apologized for the comments but the House suspended his approval.
However, the House on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 decided to approve his nomination barely one and half months to the general elections.
