The Chairman of the Northern Regional Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Mumuni Musah Mima, has called on the president-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to fight corruption in the country especially government officials either in the outgoing or incoming regime.
Alhaji Mima said it is not a witch-hunting issue but ensuring that all public office holders who are entrusted with public funds are accountable to stewardship.
He was addressing the press at his residence in Tamale in the Northern Region Friday, December 30.
Flanked by party founders and elders, he commended Nana Akufo-Addo for his intention to restructure the Savannah Acceleration Development Authority (SADA) into the Northern Development Authority (NDA), which he said will go a long way to improve the living standard of people in the north.
Alhaji Mima said NPP’s elders in the Northern Region are confident that the implementation of ‘One Village, One Dam’ and the ‘One District, One Factory’ policies will create numerous jobs for the youth.
He added that the restoration of teachers and trainee nurses’ allowances, the restructuring of the non-formal education sector and allowances for Arabic instructors are a demonstration of the president-elect’s commitment to accelerate the social and economic development of the three regions in the north.
Alhaji Mima called on the youth in the Region to continue to exercise maximum restraint and sustain the prevailing peace to enable the new government to implement its good policies as enshrined in the manifesto.
