Despite a directive by the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) for voting to resume in Jaman North Constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region, there is no sign of such, 3news.com gathers.
Officials of the Commission in the Jaman North District are said to be locked up in a meeting with the district security council.
3news.com gathers eligible voters are expressing frustration over the situation and are already calling for the dismissal of the District Director of the Commission, Diana Asamoah.
Some constituents are already invoking curses on Ms Asamoah and the Commission, 3news.com’s correspondent says.
There was confusion at the start of polls on Wednesday, December 7 as regards the voters’ register in the constituency.
The representatives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were not happy with the register, claiming it was bloated.
But a press conference addressed by Eric Kofi Dzakpasu Wednesday afternoon played down happenings within the constituency and said voting had not been suspended as earlier reported.
“What occurred at Jaman North was not enough to warrant an adjournment of polls,” Mr Dzakpasu told journalists.
But the situation on the ground suggests that voting may not resume on Wednesday as directed.
All electoral officers are tight-lipped on the issue.
They, however, confirmed receiving directive from the headoffice to resume the exercise.
