The National Democratic Congress is promising to invest a whooping GHC13 billion in 184 projects across the country if given the chance for another four-year term.
Deputy Minister of Communication, Ato Sarpong, who announced this, explained that the investment would create 3 million jobs within the four-year period.
Addressing a Job Summit in Kumasi, he said young people would have to upgrade their skills and knowledge to be positioned to grab the job opportunities.
The job summit provided a platform for participants to know the existing job opportunities in the country and what the NDC government intends to do in the next four years to create more jobs.
Mr Sarpong said the government would create the 3 million jobs through investment in infrastructure and the revival of strategic state-owned enterprises.
“The government has planned to invest GHc 13 billion to create 3 million jobs through the construction of roads, schools, hospitals, and domestic revival of strategic state owned enterprises”.
Mr. Sarpong noted that the job opportunities created by the government would be for those who position themselves to be gainfully employed.
“The government will create the jobs but it is only those who are prepared and have upgraded their skills and knowledge are the ones who are going to benefit from the job opportunities,” he pointed out.
Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah advised the youth to have faith in themselves and capitalise on their potentials.
He said though the government is committed to providing jobs to the citizenry, the youth must adopt entrepreneurial skills to enable them own businesses.
A former deputy minister for Western Region, Emilia Arthur, highlighted opportunities under the Youth Enterprise Support (YES).
She asked the unemployed youth to take advantage of the programme to get jobs and further upgrade their skills.
Meanwhile, the chief of staff and his team interacted with Zongo chiefs and imams at Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya South constituency.
Julius Debrah called on the constituents to vote and retain President Mahama to promote the welfare of Zongo communities.
The Krontihene of Abuakwa Zongo, Alhaji Nuhu Alhassan Dickleburgh assured the chief of staff of their votes.
Julius Debrah introduced the NDC parliamentary candidate for Atwima Nwabiagya South constituency, Nana Asare Bediako, to the people.
