Some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) earlier today attacked the Nima residence of the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo Addo, throwing stones and other offensive weapons at and into the house.
Reports from the residence said the NDC supporters were going on a morning jog and upon reaching the residence of Akufo Addo, they started throwing stones and other items at the security personnel detailed at the NPP flagbearers house.
The action almost turned violent when the security personnel and some supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) decided to retaliate.
The timely intervention of the Nima Police officers brought the situation under control. At a point in time the police had to fire teargas to disperse the crowd which was growing by the minute.
“The attacks were unprovoked, we were just sitting here have a conversation and we heard them coming from a distance. We thought they were just passing but by the time we realised, someone throws a stone at the gate” one of the supporters told 3news.com.
They later started calling other supporters to come to the residence of Nana Addo to help in “defending Nana Addo’s house.”
The police are still there to maintain peace.
