Voting is yet to begin at various polling stations the Sampa polling station in Jaman North Constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region where the National Democratic Congress is challenging the voters’ register for Wednesday’s general elections.
The NDC officials in the constituency say the register to be used for the exercise is bloated and have thus prevented the distribution of voting materials to that polling station where queues have been formed.
Officials of the EC in the constituency, security personnel and party officials are currently held up in a meeting seeking to resolve the matter for the materials to be dispatched the materials to the stations for voting to begin.
“We are aware that Sampa polling station in Jaman North has not opened. The parties are in dispute. It is being addressed. All voters will get the opportunity to vote, if they were in the queue by 5pm,” a statement issued by the EC on its official Facebook.
Also, the Commission said reports of riots at Suhum have been investigated and have turned out to be false, adding “Suhum is peaceful”
“Claim regarding a sticker in the thumbprint box on the ballot paper for candidate Akufo Addo at Royal Crown School is FALSE! Please disregard,” the Commission added.
The EC again denied reports of fake indelible ink in Kasoa Central, describing the claims as “untrue! There is no such thing as fake ink and is not possible”.
