Former Attorney General Martin Alamisi Amidu has filed a suit at the country’s Supreme Court, opposing an application filed by businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome for a stay of proceeding as regards his examination.
The Court on Thursday, November 24 adjourned the examination of Mr Woyome by Mr Amidu to December 1 after the latter protested he had not abreast himself with the application.
The Court upheld an application filed on Friday, November 4 by the former Minister of Justice to examine the embattled businessman to name beneficiaries of the GH¢51.2 million judgement debt paid to him.
But the scheduled examination on Thursday, November 24 did not come off after Mr Woyome filed a suit for stay of proceeding.
In his writ filed on Friday, Mr Amidu, popularly known as Citizen Vigilante, said: “I oppose the application for stay of proceeding on the main ground that it discloses no reasonable ground or grounds for the making of an application for stay of proceedings to this Court pending the discharge or reversal of the ruling order of this Court dated 16th November 2016 aforesaid to warrant its consideration by this Court.”
Mr Amidu said the application is only to subvert the decision by Anin Yeboah, JSC and that “the public interest that I represent as the Plaintiff/1st Respondent will suffer greater hardship and inconvenience if the request of the applicant was granted”.
Describing Mr Woyome’s application as “frivolous” and “vexatious”, Mr Amidu said the application should come December 1 be refused.
