In a rare political outburst, Samira Bawumia, wife of Akufo-Addo’s running mate, has taken President Mahama to the cleaners for show of misplaced priority as a leader.
She chided the president for expending money on things that do not impact on the lives of majority of Ghanaians.
She was addressing a mammoth rally of the opposition New Patriotic Party on Sunday at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre, Accra.
Samira Bawumia, whose husband Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been an albatross on the neck of government with his consistent criticism of what he termed mismanagement of the economy, accused President Mahama of choosing billboards over potable water.
She recounted seeing huge billboards of President Mahama all over Northern region where the president hails from, and yet people in his hometown, Bole Bamboi, have no access to potable water.
She therefore called on Ghanaians to vote out the Mahama-led government and bring back the NPP under the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Her call is founded in what she believed to be bad leadership exhibited by President Mahama, a leader whom she said does not care for the needy.
Mrs. Bawumia described Nana Akufo-Addo as a “competent and incorruptible leader” who is capable of moving Ghana forward.
This election is about young people and women of Ghana, she said and charged them to “rise for a change”.
