The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central Constituency, Mahama Ayariga, who doubles as the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, has launched his campaign for re-election.
The campaign launch attracted thousands of supporters within and outside the Upper East Region.
Speaker after speaker lauded Mr Ayariga for his role in the development of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Hannah Serwaa Tetteh described Mahama Ayariga’s performance both in Parliament and in Cabinet as outstanding and remarkable.
She, therefore, called on the constituents to vote for John Mahama and Mahama Ayariga come December 7, 2016 to continue with the transformational agenda.
Minister for Employment and Labour Relations Haruna Iddrisu said the government of the NDC led by President John Mahama is making sure that all major roads across the country is asphalted and the Bawku-Bolga road is in no exception.
He added that over 400, 000 youth will be employed into the Youth Employment Agency programme.
He called on party activist in the country to ignore the lies and propaganda of the New Patriotic Party and vote massively for President John Mahama and Mahama Ayariga to continue with the Better Ghana agenda.
On his part, Mr Ayariga said the development Ghanaians have seen in the first term of president Mahama is just a tip of the iceberg.
The former Sports Minister said the second term of President John Mahama will witness massive development and improvements in the lives of all.
He said plans are far advanced to construct a Bawku Municipal hospital and a university.
Mahama Ayariga said he stands for peace in the area and doesn’t matter one’s tribal lines be it Kusaasi, Moshie, Fulani, Mampurisi among others, “we are all one and we are all here in Bawku and that it is only peace that can move Bawku central forward”.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Bukari Issaku, charged the crowd to vote massively for NDC because that is party that has and have demonstrated its capability of solving the developmental needs of the people.
He mentioned the numerous water expansion projects, improvement in road network within the constituency, extension of electricity to the rural areas to a total of 85 per cent coverage as evidence.
“Construction of bridges, construction and expanding of dams to accelerate the agricultural activities during the dry season in the town…provision of teaching and learning materials to the various rural basic schools. Scholarship aid to needy students and on and on…
“We are delivering the Bawku Central seat and increasing the vote.”
Mr Issaku charged the teeming crowd to go house-to-house, door-to-door, room-to-room, shop-to-shop to solicit votes for the party come Election 2016.
Other dignitaries who addressed the mammoth rally included Northern Region Minister Abdullah Abubakar, Upper East Region Minister Albert Abongo, Former regional minister James Tiaga Zuugah, Malam issah among others.
Ayariga’s contenders during NDC’s primaries, Abdulai Musah and Alhaji Ibrahim Dori, called on supporters to disband all groups and rally behind Mahama Ayariga for resounding victory.
