Residents of karni in the Lambussie Karni District of the Upper West region have boycotted the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections in the area.
They were supposed to vote in the Lambussie Constituency, but they refused to exercise their franchise because the name of their community was removed from the official naming of the constituency.
They had wanted the constituency called Lambussie Karni but several protests to authorities were not heeded, they claimed.
TV3’s Evelyn Tengmaa who visited the Dampuo primary polling station there was told by the presiding officer Kenneth Dabuo that nobody passed through to cast his or her vote.
A total of 558 electorate were expected to vote there but with less than 10 minutes to close of elections, nobody had voted.
