Wife of the New Patriotic Party presidential aspirant, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, says Ghanaian women are reeling under economic hardship due to what she said is “bad leadership” under the John Mahama-led government.
Addressing supporters of the NPP at the Buem Constituency in the Volta Region during the party’s campaign launch at the weekend, Mrs Akufo-Addo said “Women are really suffering under the incumbent government”.
She observed the NDC government has plunged the economy into hardship despite the country’s enormous resources, hence urged Ghanaians to vote for Nana Akufo-Addo to transform the economy.
“We want a change in government this year so that Ghana can move forward. We are really suffering in Ghana. Ghana is a rich country but bad leadership has made the country poor. We just need a leader who will bring prosperity to our country and that leader is Nana Akufo-Addo,” she said.
She underscored the pivotal role women play in the development of an economy, promising that an NPP government will create the enabling environment for women of this country to thrive in all aspect of their lives.
“I’ll make sure I also play my role as First Lady to bring prosperity and comfort to our women when my husband Nana Akufo-Addo is voted into power”.
Mrs Akufo-Addo has therefore urged women to come out in their numbers on December 7 to vote massively for the NPP to take over the governance of the country.
