Ghana has dropped out of the Top 50 in the FIFA rankings for the first time in over 10 years.
In the latest ranking released on Thursday, November 24, Ghana dropped eight places from 45th last month to 53rd.
Ghana’s undoing is attributed to the single point picked from the last two 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana are also yet to pick a win in their last five games, a situation that has stoked calls for the sacking of manager Avram Grant.
The Black Stars have enjoyed a Top 50 place since October, 2005, a year the team was adjudged and awarded the best mover.
Ghana’s unbeaten run that year – just before a maiden world cup berth in Germany – pushed the Stars into the Top 50.
The team’s dwellings within the half-century bracket saw it climbing to 14th in February, 2008, its highest ever ranking.
The latest position sums up the cracks within the team, which is currently behind Egypt and Uganda in the world cup qualifying group.
In Africa, Ghana is ranked 9th with the likes of DR Congo and Burkina Faso ahead of it.
Senegal has jumped to overtake La Cote d’Ivoire as Africa’s highest ranked side.
