Former First National Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Fred Oware, is calling for early elections to salvage the economy from collapse.
According to him, the extent to which the Mahama-led administration has mismanaged the economy, waiting for 2016 will mean a total shutdown of the economy.
Fred Oware made the suggestion on Accra-based Peace FM on Friday.
He noted that the fiscal indiscipline of government has brought hardship, hopelessness and paralyzed the economy and the citizenry in a whole.
Even worst, the NPP man said, is the loss of confidence in the economy by the international community, which in his view, has discouraged investors from coming into the country.
He added that there is not end in sight because, in about six years of being in office, government has shown beyond all reasonable doubt that it has a solution the economic crisis.
Fred Oware believes the only way out is for President Mahama to step down in the interest of the state.
“if President Mahama has the interest of Ghana at heart, he should step down so that Ghanaians can vote in the NPP to salvage them from the shackles of poverty,” he added.
