In July 2012, when President John Dramani Mahama was sworn in as interim president of Ghana, the entire NDC base based avowed their unflinching support to his leadership.
President John Dramani Mahama was an object of much adulation as many perceived him as being a force that could unify Ghana, in a post Atta Mills era.
At the height of the 2012 elections when the Better Ghana Agenda was touted, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) faithful once again pledged to support the President Mahama to ensure his victory and the eventual fulfillment and sustained success of his audacious Manifesto.
It has been a little more than 2 years since President John Mahama assumed office as a head of state of Ghana and future looks more bleak for him than it has ever been for a Ghanaian president in the new constitutional dispensation of the 4th Republic.
Those he appointed to be his generals and entrusted to aid him accomplish his bold plan have largely betrayed him.
No longer are his praises being sang, rather aspersions are railed upon him daily.
For the few who still declare the loyalty to the President Mahama, it is has gotten harder for the President to determine those who are truly loyal and those who are sycophant Trojan horses who sing praise as long as they are in his good books.
Although His Excellency John Mahama is the President of Ghana and by virtue of the title bears the brunt of lapses of his generals, he is only one man and our esteemed democratically elected leader cannot do it on his own.
He was well versed with that fact and that led him to appoint the various institutional heads and ministers to help him govern.
It is not easy to find people who believe in your vision and are prepared to work selflessly to help you achieve it,
For President Mahama with all his good ideas and good intentions, maybe he has not truly found a leadership team that who still believe in him. Well at least the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Honorable Seth Terkper has remained loyal.
Though people decry President Mahama as being visionless, We dare say he does have some vision but he cannot execute it alone.
Attempts by the Office of the Ghanaian President to abate the intensity of the controversies arising from the poor judgments by his ministers have been largely unsuccessful and stained his presidency.
Have you ever worked with a team, given them your objectives, provided detailed instructions to ensure success but have found their efforts lukewarm as best ? We believe Mahama is in that same precarious position.
His directives have unfortunately produced diametrically opposite results.
