An attempt was made by hackers to shut the website of Ghana’s elections-management body down.
Immediately after polls closed on Wednesday and results were expected to be released by the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC), the website could not be accessed by visitors.
The homepage went blank with the suspicion of officials that it was done by some hackers. There was, however, no hacking message on the website.
“We deplore the attempt to hack the EC’s website,” the Commission tweeted on Thursday, December 8.
“Please respect the integrity and independence of the EC.”

The Commission has assured that results will be available for the public soon.
The results will begin with provisional ones, which will be subjected to verification for potential overvoting.
“We urge voters to remain calm as we begin releasing results.”
