The National Chief Imam has blessed Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), at his palace, saying that he pray for God to lead him and care for him.
Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Shaributu said if Nana Akufo-Addo becomes the president, peace and development will come by the grace of God.
Nana Akufo-Addo paid a courtesy call on the Chief Imam over the weekend.
An hour before the arrival of the NPP candidate, there was a heavy rainfall but the hundreds of party supporters and sympathizers, who had already gathered there to cheer their idol on, were not moved by and chose to sing and dance in the rains.
Sheikh Shaributu and Nana Akufo-Addo held a closed-door meeting before addressing the press.
The politician said he had come to the Muslim leader to introduce himself and the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Patrick Yaw Boamah.
Nana Akufo-Addo pleaded with the Chief Imam to accept and support the parliamentary candidate in order to develop the Okaikoi Central Constituency when he becomes president.
Alhaji Boniface Saddique, who gave the welcome address, told the Chief Imam that Nana Akufo-Addo has a lot of respect for the National Chief Imam, hence the decision to make his palace the first port of call before commencing his rally in the Greater Accra Region.
Alhaji Saddique, who is also contesting the seat in Madina, said the rains and wind that blew indicate that power is drifting into the hands of Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.
