Black Queens Ease Into Semis To Face Hosts Cameroon

Ghana’s Black Queens have comfortably booked a place in Tuesday’s African Women’s Cup of Nations semi-final after a 3-1 win over Mali on Saturday.

A 45th minute strike by Linda Eshun gave Ghana the lead in the final group game of the tournament.

Goals from Samira Suleman and Elizabeth Addo in the second half ensured that the Black Queens had a comfortable ride into the semi-finals.

While Samira takes her tally to two, Addo makes it three out of three, all from the spot.

Mali’s Diarra Binta pulled one back before the end of the game.

The results kept Ghana on the same points – seven – with favourites Nigeria, who walloped Kenya’s Harambee Starlets 4-0 in the other final group game.

The Nigerians, however, topped the group with a superior goal difference.

While Ghana plays Cameroon in the first semi-final match, Nigeria will play South Africa.
