Ghana’s Black Queens came from a goal down to beat Kenya’s Harambee Starlets 3-1 in their opening Group B game of the 2016 African Women’s Cup of Nations.
Played on Sunday, November 20 at the Stade Municipal de Limbe, the match was the second group B game after Nigeria had thrashed Mali 6-0 earlier in the day.
The Kenyans drew first blood in the 21st minute through Esse Akida.
However, parity was restored by Samira Suleiman in the 50th minute.
With 20 minutes to go, Elizabeth Addo scored from the spot to put Ghana in the lead.
Portia Boakye put the game beyond the East Africans in injury time.
The Queens face Nigeria next while the Kenyans will play Mali.
Those matches will be played on Wednesday.
