Founder and Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC) Hassan Ayariga has with immediate effect suspended two executives for “indiscipline and gross disrespect”.
The two – Vice Chairman Emmanuel Carl Bartels and General Secretary Razak Opoku – on Sunday went ahead of a scheduled event to declare support for New Patriotic Party’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the December 7 elections.
The party had originally scheduled Monday, November 28 to declare support for one of the seven 2016 presidential candidates following the disqualification of Mr Ayariga.
But after the two executives made known the supposed APC’s stance in the elections, Mr Ayariga rubbished the earlier endorsement to say that “Until declaration made by Dr Hassan Ayariga, any other news of APC in support of the NPP is a mere propaganda and is null and void”.
He followed up with a statement announcing the immediate suspension of the two, one of whom would have been his running mate if he had been given the greenlight to contest the 2016 elections.
“The Founder and Leader of APC DR Hassan Ayariga and the National Executive Committee of the All People’s Congress (APC) with immediate effect in accordance to the party’s constitution has suspended Mr Emmanuel Carl Bartels( vice Chairman) and Mr Razak Kojo Opoku(Gen secretary) due to an indiscipline and gross disrespect to National Executive committee, and the general membership of APC nationwide,” he said in a press release Sunday evening.
“Dr Hassan Ayariga and the National Executive Committee wish to inform all APC members nationwide and the general public to refrain from dealing with these two suspended individuals with matters concerning the party till further notice.”
