The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of St Augustine’s College in Cape Coast is calling on the Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to, as a matter of urgency, reinstate Joseph Connel as headmaster.
Mr Connel was interdicted last month for allegedly charging unapproved fees from fresh students.
But at a PTA General Meeting last Saturday, resolutions were passed among which expressed opposition to the interdiction of Mr Connel.
The call is said to have backed those of the board of governors, old boys’ association and the College-Archbishop of Cape Coast.
“That the headmaster did no wrong and never collected any unapproved levy,” the resolution stated.
It said first year students were duly informed about the poor state of some infrastructure for which an appeal was made to voluntarily donate to.
Parents of first years admitted they willingly paid GH¢140 to the school to “help maintain discipline in the college and thus had our full backing”.
