Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo Addo has issued a swift response to the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah over his recent comments over the Kalyppo craze.
Mr. Debrah who is currently campaigning in the Brong Ahafo region said it’s bad for adults to take food meant for children and cited the Kalyppo fruit juice as example. He explained that with the sugar content, consuming it could have adverse health consequences.
But largest opposition party has condemned the comments with pro- NPP group, Truth Forum demanding an apology from the Chief of staff.
Addressing a rally during his Ashanti regional campaign tour, the three time presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo waded into the conversation describing the comment as a deliberate move to collapse local industries in the country.
“You don’t support local companies and now you want to kill them as well?” he asked.
Nana Akufo-Addo questioned why the chief of staff will speak against the intake of sugar when the Mahama led administration has been boasting of reviving the Komenda Sugar Factory
“If sugar were so unhealthy to adults”, as Mr. Debrah claims, “then why has the Mahama’s administration opened the Komenda Sugar Factory? This year, whatever falsehood they will peddle will not work. We will vote president Mahama’s government out of office?” he asserted.
