The Gambia’s President, Adama Barrow, has named a former Secretary of State under the first regime of Yahya Jammeh as his vice.
Fatoumatta Jallow Tambajang was announced yesterday by President Barrow who is currently in Senegal where he was sworn into office last Friday, Editor of the Point newspaper in The Gambia, Ousman Kargbo, told Onua FM Tuesday.
“The first appointee was announced yesterday and it is female vice President,” he said on Onua FM’s morning show, Yen Sempa.
He said: “We have not seen her yet after the announcement but she is supposed to be in the country since she is not with the Barrow’s team in Senegal. She has served in various capacities in almost three regimes”.
Mr. Kargbo explained that the Vice President “was instrumental in forming the opposition coalition headed by President Barrow against former President Jammeh
Vice President Jallow Tambajang was appointed Secretary of State when former President Yahya Jammeh took over in 1994.
She onetime served as Minister of Health and Social Welfare under the former government of Vice President Jallow Tambajang served the UN in Liberia as the technical advisor on Gender and Children issues from 2000 to 2002.
