58 chiefs in the Ashanti region have unanimously declare their support for flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo Addo indicating that although they have suffered under development for their act, they will repeat the act.
The chiefs gave their endorsement through the senior traditional leader, Nana Yaw Owusu who indicated that following their voting pattern over the years which has favoured the NPP, the current government under John Mahama has not been fair to the region in terms of development.
This he says would not stop them from repeating the act of voting for Nana Akufo Addo.
Nana Yaw Owusu who also happens to be the Mpaboahene indicated that although chiefs and traditional leaders are barred from actively engaging in partisan politics, they believe that issue bothering on development is of prime concern to them; hence their open declaration.
The chiefs who had gathered to receive the NPP flagbearer cheered and applauded the declaration which also got party supporters shouting with enthusiasm.
Nana Akufo Addo began his campaign of the Ashanti region on Wednesday which would see him focus on constituencies which have consistently voted for the NDC although they are in the stronghold of the NPP.
