As part of its innovative strategy, 3FM in collaboration with TKC Africa, a Ghanaian incorporated limited liability company, is giving young Ghanaian entrepreneurs the unique opportunity to showcase their business to the world and win a cash prize of $10,000.
The Business Pitch, which targets start-up businesses and SMEs, is a competition that offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to win $10,000. It facilitates their access to strategic partners and markets for their products and services.
Entrepreneurs are given one minute to call a designated number, follow the voice prompt and outline their ideas. They are then given a code to be voted for. The key criteria is that the business concept should show some social impact.
Chief Executive Officer of ORIOS Group, an investment company, John Armah, who doubles as a judge for the competition, advised potential contestants to be specific in the presentation of the problems identified as well as the proposed solutions.
Chief Executive Officer of TKC Africa Hannah Acquah expressed confidence the competition can help young graduates to exhibit their talent and make a business out of it.
“People are coming out of school but have no jobs. So what we’re doing is to grow this pipeline because our investors are hungry and searching for talents to invest in,” she said.
Each season of the Business Pitch is expected to last three months.
Entrepreneurs must call in and pitch their businesses from the November 9 – 20, 2016 whereas voting ends on November 27.
The first week of every month would be for pitching only while the remaining three weeks are reserved for evaluation by the judges and voting by the public.
Winners will be announced at the end of each month on 3FM 92.7MHz.
Programmes Manager of 3FM Lois Kissiedu maintains the station’s objective is to create a unique platform and opportunity for brilliant business idea that may never have seen the light of day due to lack of support.
“There are a lot of young people out there who do not have funding to be able to realize their dreams. So we are giving them the opportunity to come out and tell investors about their ideas,” she said.
TKC Africa has been working with businesses and entrepreneurs since 2010 to make them investor ready. TKC empowers entrepreneurs to understand the mileage of a good pitch as well as business and brand awareness.
