I can say without mincing words that the current unwelcomed development of make- shift housing springing up along the Tema Motorway is asecurity threat to the motorist and the residents in that area.
The emerging slums which are highly suspect owned by individualsandgroupswho were sometimes last year had their houses demolished in a suburb of Ashaiman known as AdjeiKojo
If there allowed to state there for more than a year it will mean that government should be preparing to compensate them before leaving the land they are occupying now.
Until recently the Temamotorway way one of the legacies ofOsagyefoDr. KwameNkrumah has beena major link between the industrial hub and thecapital that opens Tema to other parts of the country.
Hither to the smother and safest way people had in commuting tro and from Tema and Accra for all business has now seized to serve the purpose it was constructed.
Today as a result of the massive show of disrespect to the facility by perhapsentertainment oflawlessness by some citizens one can’t enjoy the fullest comfort using that road gave comparing to 1990’s users.
Now, users has to endure the sometimes heavy traffic on the stretch even on weekends,
Thanks to the Ghana Police Service 24 hours high way patrol teams for their presence on the road that has forced potential armed robbers from operating there. It would have been a save heaven for criminals as the lightening system is nothing to write home about during the night.
I hope every motorist is on high alert praying his or her car do not develop fault on that road otherwise even at noon day just as i do pray on every weekend before embarking to my village.
Despite police cautioned on observance of traffic regulation it is evident that still unauthorized and authorized adjoining roots which may have been permitted are used in the rush hours competing with those who decide to use that road as approved root.
I’m not too sure that the pothole that appears on the road after rainy seasons has attracted quick response for maintenance as a number of such continue to pose danger for users on that road daily.
As if that is not enough today about 1000 wooden structures are seen clearly on the both left and right of the Tema motorway right from the Tema end to the Tette Quashie round about.
From a distance one would have though these illegal cited wooden structures on the motorway are part of operation occupy all spaces project.
Looking at toes that I may step on with the expression of my opinion I should have been silent over the matter. However, it’s incumbent on us as citizens of Ghana to ensure the country develop where ever we find ourselves with whatever we have.
Let’s take cognizance of the problems associated with the demolishing exercise that may have brought those people from AdjeiKojo and the visions i have i think this people should be scattered immediately before they gain ground. i know there are decent peoples in such areas yet i also know it is mostly the home to most criminals whom have abandoned their own homes.
TDC and TMA must play their parts whiles LEKMA and AMA should make sure these structures are not there because gradual there are attracting compensations from the state resources.
Their being there is not doing this nation any good rather it’s exposing the country to the alleged filth in the system and has the potential to add to the housing deficits in Ghana which borders on the right to housing UDHR.
