The Methodist Church Ghana formally opened Belgium Mission Circuit in the diamond City, Antwerpen, on 10th December 2016. The Mission Circuit consists of Societies and a Nursery society; namely, Brussels Society, Ghent Society, Leuven Nursery Society and Antwerpen Society ( Circuit Headquarters).
The inauguration was in charge of Most Rev. Titus Awortwi Pratt The Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Titus officiated the ceremony with a celebration of God’s Blessings not only getting a new Mission point but drawing another Evangelical congregation to this part of the World, after many years of hard and sometimes lonely work for the Missionaries.
The Mission Circuit inauguration was followed by consecration and dedication of a newly purchased Church building for The Methodist Church in Antwerpen. The purchase of the Church building Marks an interesting , important and a major epoch of Church Building ownership amongst African communities in Belgium.
The property was originally constructed in 1970s, renovated in 1998 and owned by Jehovah’s Witnesses. The property contains 3 fully furnished auditorium( Regualar Chapel Hall, Winter Chapel Hall and a Conference room), car park and a 4 bedroom Manse.
The purchase was negotiated by The Very Rev. Bernard Bamfo – Bosompem, Superintendent Minister of Belgium Misiion. It would cost approximately € 5.8 million for similar new Construction, but was settled for little over half a million Euro.
The Belgium Mission Circuit inauguration , the Consecration and the Dedication of the 135,452-square-foot property was climaxed on 11th Dec. 2016 with the induction of The Very Rev. Bernard Bamfo – Bosompem as Sperintendent Minister of the Belgium Mission.
The Very Rev. Bernard Bamfo – Bosompem had his 3 year institutional training at The Trinity Theological Seminary , Accra, Ghana and was commisioned and ordained in the year 2002 and 2005 respectively. He earned a superintendent status in 2013 upon serving various Society, Circuit and Diocese within Ghana and Europe.
The Very Rev. Bernard Bamfo – Bosompem is gifted in the area of Revivals, Retreats, Evangelism and other Renewal programs which The Methodist Church and other Denominations are greatly blessed through him.
The Very Rev. Bernard Bamfo – Bosompem is married to Lilian, he affectionately calls ”Meyere Akua “ (My wife Akua), and they are blessed with 3 children. 2 boys and a girl.
The ceremony included high profile guest from Ghanaian Community Elders to public figures and dignitaries. Mrs Hannah Ama Nyarko the deputy chief of the Ghana mission in The Kingdom of Belgium and The European Union and Mr William Okaikoe a Minister Counsellor at the Ghana Embbasy in The Kingdom of Belgium represented the Ghana diplomatic corps in The Kingdom of Belgium and The European Union.
Mrs Hannah Ama Nyarko was a stand in for the Ghanaian ambassador to The Kingdom of Belgium and The European Union to address the Congregants, she noted Her Excellency
Mrs. Novisi Abaidoo was on official assignment abroad.
She expreesed their great excitement and understood it that, The Very Rev. Bernard Bamfo – Bosompen’s task is a holy calling from Almighty God so they are very happy to supporting
She attested to the growth of the Methodist Church not in Ghana but beyond and she agreed this growth is come not by itself but through earnet prayers, hardwork of the Clergy.and all The Methodist Church associates with their various support .and prayers, and quoted 1 Timothy 2: 1-2 from the Holy Scriptures.
The Very Rev. Bernard Bamfo-Bosompem and family express their great gratitude and the ceremony was closed by a spectacular choreographic act by the Antwerpen Society youth.
