But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things – and the things that are not – to nullify the things that are so that no one may boast before Him- 1 COR. 1:27-29 {NIV}.
THE BEGINNINGUndeniably and unquestionably, Donald Trump is a most priggish man. In the history of American presidential politics, no man has such caused revolutionary, combustible and joy-pain consequences like he did in the November 9, 2016, presidential election. Globally, conventional wisdom hardened opinions against him during the campaign and even after the election. Donald Trump’s own party, the Republicans, just narrowly gave him their ticket to contest the presidency. Even at that, many old guards in the Grand Old Party {GOP} apologized for that error and publicly denounced him. Significantly, they kept a dignified distanced from his person and campaign.
Cultured minds and refined corners dismissed him as a barbarian par excellence. President Barack Obama {a property of the anti-Christ to this writer} publicly, proudly and regally declared Donald Trump “unfit to lead.”The president flawed Trump as an American dream gone awry. America’s sodomites and their transgender allies, emboldened during the disastrous years of President Obama when he legalized gay marriage, viscerally condemned him as a Bible thumping, homophobic irritant. In Europe, Trump was burnt in effigy. The UK parliament read him the riot act in a united denunciation and practically declared him persona non grata in their nation. In Latin America, the hatred associated with more than a century of American domination and oppression in their hemisphere was heaped on his head.
Sub-Saharan Africans happily awarded Donald Trump the unfair label of a savage that was branded their continent by white colonialists. Smoothly, the Muslim world labeled him a vile, Anglo-Saxon infidel. African Americans largely rubbished him as a crass racist. To the franchisees of women’s rights, he was a misogamist and narcissistic groper. Universally, he was pictured as a bogeyman, the poster child of a joke gone too far, the portrait of poisoned conduct and inhuman civilization. Indeed, Donald Trump was worthy of much of these detestable labels pinned on him.
ENTER THE STORM TROOPERS Despite these various tags put on Donald Trump, I take a different cue. I confess that his opponent Mrs Hillary Clinton, America’s ex-first lady, ex-New York senator and former Secretary of State is not my cup of tea! Indeed, my FB page of ………………. Carried a post titled, Why I Am Against Hillary Clinton’s Presidential Ambition. The duty of a historian is to see through the verbiage to the realities of politics and seek the views of economically weather beaten Americans. In the 2016 presidential election, the African American and Latin vote totaled about 26 per cent as against 72 per cent of the white vote. By measuring Hillary’s lead over Trump mainly through this 26 per cent of voters and neoliberal, sodomite circles; CNN and other establishment pollsters missed the actual direction of the campaign and consequent mood of American voters. The arrow of Donald Trump’s message was making sense to poor and lower middle class white Americans with high school education and little knowledge of the world outside the USA.
In addition, religious and nationalistic feelings have been paramount in Muslim lands, Russia, Netherlands, Britain and China for years now. White Americans who felt concerned about being swamped by Muslims, immigrants of colour and very cheap Chinese imports loved the vitriolic message of Donald Trump. Brexit, which the UK conservative government of Mrs Theresa May campaigned for, also appealed to Donald Trump’s Storm Troopers. This solidarity of ignorance and prejudice which made sense to Trump’s supporters, unfortunately escaped the urbane, homosexual oriented, overfed editorial writers of the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Guardian of London, opinion determinants at CNN and other neoliberal titles.
HILLARY, DON’T CRY FOR MEXICO Now, shock is the response to the miscalculated prophesies of these establishment, atheist, God-rejecting, high society arteries completely given over to the oratory of Hillary’s husband and ex-president, Bill Clinton and his co-traveller, President Barack Obama. Riots, protests and demonstrations have rocked the USA after the unexpected election of Trump. The determination of the president elect to deport three million immigrants, build a wall against Mexico, cut off funding for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America {an ungodly, unfettered abortionist agency} and revoke some of Obama’s gay policies have alarmed American neoliberals. The rise of neo-Nazi, white supremacist villains like the Ku Klux Klan, haven’t calm frayed nerves about a neoconservative Trump administration.
Like it or not, the clock of respectability of the establishment has won thinner, and the pretense of being an oracle of politics is diminished and damaged, if not totally destroyed by this victory of Donald Trump. Many folks who loudly and publicly disavowed Donald Trump, will soon, secretly praise him. President Obama and ex-UK Prime Minister David Cameron, who overthrew Muamar Gaddaffi’s murderous dictatorship without ensuring that a stable government took its place, unintentionally gave birth to ISIS, Islam’s and the world’s most violent killing brigade. The emigration of millions of Muslim immigrants to Europe and possibly to the United States of America frightened Trump and American nationalists.
LESSONS FROM TRUMP’S VICTORY FOR THE THIRD WORLD Instead of demonizing Donald Trump, millions of Third World immigrants in the USA should pressure their leaders back home to engage in wise, judicious use of their nation’s human, material and financial resources. They may later thank Donald Trump if these huge potentials are maximized for development and the general good of their suffering co-compatriots. If the election of this irritant to the US presidency throws up true lovers of liberties, freedom, democracy, development and the rule of law in Third World countries, then he may have served his purpose! For me as a historian, the material of history does not change much. Valid general laws of political thought and behavior is deducible from the past and I believe that modern political observatories should have them as their lens view.
Varied as the broad spectrum of human and national experiences may be, there exit set laws for demagogues wishing to take over presidential palaces and another set of laws for establishment mandarins out to confront such effrontery and incipient tyranny. As a historian out to detect the general laws of political cause and effect, I am not bothered over such differences of purpose. That calls for a deductive faculty and a stretch of history. Essentially, all history is recurrent and one stretch is theoretically good as another. Deng Ziaoping, an-ex Chinese president that opened up the Red Dragon to the world justified the outcry it generated thus: “It does not matter if a cat is black or white as long as it catches mice.” Today, China is the world’s second largest economy, an enemy of Donald Trump and one of the reasons why he won the 2016 presidential election.
The election of Donald Trump explains why Peter Ayodele Fayose, a bric-brac, thuggish man ousted John Kayode Fayemi, a Phd holder with panache and elan as the governor of Ekiti State, agreeably the Nigerian state with most professors. That explains why President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, a ramrod ex-general, a Miyetti Allah apostle and a long distance runner dusted Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, a Phd holder who lacks conviction and “lever,” apologies to Delta pidgin English exponents. That explains why the Jagaban, the owlish, politically consummate, fighting ex-governor of Lagos State, has dominated South-west politics since 1999, the godfathers in the Afenifere, Yoruba Consultative Forum, and the Oodua Peoples Congress, notwithstanding. That explains why I am writing. That explains why ………..
