Few days ago, while reclining in my sofa, my mobile phone gave it’s usual signal indicating that there was a call through. The caller was actually an old friend I had missed so much hence i hastened to respond before the call dropped.
“Tom, I’m giving up on my marriage because I no longer love my man”, the caller passionately confessed. I instantly felt my heart pounding as if I was competing with Usein Bolt in an Olympic athletic track. She continued and poured out her frustration , “I want to leave my matrimonial home this moment even with the kids because I am no more happy and have lost it all for my husband.”
Anxiety had arrested my veins so I could not talk much with Tracy than to put her on hold until I had recovered from the shock.
I began thinking back through the previous three years when she visited my abode and broke the goodwill message to me that she was getting married to the man she had dated for the past four years. She told me about how both of them are in love especially her grandiose affection for her fiance.
Months later, pre-wedding photos and videos begun circulating like the recent ones we see on social media today.
Presently, we see lovers taking affectionate and romantic snaphots some of which are exceedingly beautiful. I remember the recent plus size girl in Sunyani and Her lover which went extremely viral as far as BBC.
I again remember that of my secret admirer’s which got me sick to the thought of nearly filing a legal suit against Mark zuckerberg and his facebook.
These were people who were crazily in love such that the aura of affinity and the bright petals of joy were perceived to last for a lifetime.
Sometimes these flamboyant lovers while dating would become so apparent such that while taking a walk around the neighbourhood, their hands would be so tight around each other. They play and smile, they look into their eyes and tell each other promises that could never be reconciled by time and space.
Have you also taken notice of how lovers in a date peck, argue and enjoy themselves all over while taking a ride in town?
They cruise and surf at the beach, the lakes and other tourist sites.
I don’t also expect any of you to forget about how guys would carry the hand bags of their fiancee . Usually, they carry even the food they had bought from the supermarket. They would open the car’s doors and ussher in their beloved just like the Queen of England.
The ladies are also good at what they do best. While in a date, they learn to apologise even when they are right. They call countless times to check up their men. Many times, they prove to these guys that they are not extravagant and are therefore best options for home managers.
My deepest question to the world therefore is that , ” why did we stop doing all these after marriage?”
What has changed in our marriages after all these demonstrations we made while dating? What have we stopped doing after two or three years of marriage? Do we even have a copy of our pre-wedding photos and videos to remind us of the happy and glorious moments we shared together?
Is it that easy to forget the supreme marital vow “FOR BETTER ,FOR WORSE?”
In one of her albums, the most charismatic woman I have ever seen had her husband kneeling before her in a very gorgeous pose as he gently buckle up her shoe. I would wander if this has changed in the marriage.
I saw another friend who defiantly prepared a very sumptuous meal for her girlfriend. In fact, He actually pampered the lady as she ate the diet and I would despair if he has stopped doing that after they got married.
Friends, why have the lovers today become the enemies tomorrow? Why have we failed to challenge the perception and the hurdles of this life?
It is so sad to hear these similar words of marital failure from my good friend.
I therefore implore all lovers to spice up their marriages and tune up their minds to the true meaning of love [God]. You mist make conscious efforts to surmount the unthinkable hurdles in our marital voyage.
Notwithstanding, Don’t learn to be one, unlearn to experience marital failure!
