I did the craning at the farm
I poked the heart and saw them fall
And there they fell
They fell, they fell
Twelve by thousand at the farm.
I hid my eye beneath the farm
And there I saw a million fowls
They came, they came, they came, they came
The lean, the weak, the slim, the fat
And some hungry for twenty days.
I did and saw so high a crown
Who hid the ants and mites away
Away, away, away from them
As they hung by day by night
There I saw some owls and fowls.
I did and saw the twelve, the owls
They came and said “I need the crown”
They need, they need, they need the crown
I saw them bend and kneel for crown
And came an owl, “I need the crown”.
I did and saw the owl do kneel
“My eyes can see the ants and mites
The ants the mites the ants and mites”
And some did sing “our ants are home”.
I did and laughed twelve thousand days
“The owl is gone, our ants and mites
Our ants and mites, our ants and mites”
He flew away beyond the farm
With all their ants and mites away.
