You guessed right! It is that time of the year and the electoral season again. And this time the employee-scamming editor-publisher of the so-called Africawatch Magazine has decided to change tack. The old cocaine tag does not seem to have worked to the desired effect. This change of tack is all-too-predictable because this media scam-artist belongs to that pathologically uncouth gang of tribal nationalists who were once quarry for the Rawlings-Tsikata Mafia. This desperate belated social and political climber once had a political smear campaign program on Voice of America (VoA), a five- or ten-minute program that was featured every other week, in which this benighted media hack cavalierly presumed to expose the political scam-artistry of the Rawlings-Tsikata dictatorship.
When he applied for Permanent Residency here in the United States, popularly known as the Green Card, the SOB had to travel to Liberia for it because he had literally burnt his Ghanaian bridges, as it were. And so it ought to be anybody’s good guess why Mr. Steve Malory (aka Kwadwo Osei-Poku) has decided to truck with the members of the same Mafia gang that he had blisteringly maligned not very long ago.
Once, he even staunchly promoted the political ambitions of the then-Candidate John Agyekum-Kufuor. And then when Mr. Kufuor was voted President and “Spiv” could not get what he wanted, he went ballistic on the proverbial “Gentle Giant,” his own homeboy. Some say he had been jockeying for the cabinet position of either Information or Communication Minister. But, of course, he lacked the requisite academic and professional qualifications.
And, to his great credit, President Kufuor had been unwilling to let Mr. Malory substitute his ethnic affiliation with the President for earned academic and professional qualifications. Back then, it took some New York City-based New Patriotic Party (NPP) insiders to rein him in. That was right about the time that he decided to play publicist and resident representative for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I had my own misgivings then, which I let on to a couple of relatives close to Nana Akufo-Addo, one of whom, an astute lawyer, became an invested traditional Ghanaian chieftain not very long ago.
You see, by their very nature, political prostitutes are knaves, in classical Shakespearean parlance; they have absolutely no moral principles except what Millennial Americans call “Moola.” Money! It therefore comes as absolutely no surprise that Mr. Malory would be paid an alleged sum of $2.5 million by either President John Dramani Mahama or his shills and assigns to dig dirt on the man who once saved his life from the Tsikata Head-Chopping Block, but who has now suavely morphed himself into Nana Akufo-Addo’s arch-nemesis (See “Mahama Paid $2.5 M to Cook Cancer Story Against Nana Addo” NPP News / Modernghana.com 8/30/16).
As of this writing, the Deputy Communication Minister, Mr. Felix Ofosu-Kwakye, had come public to vehemently deny that his boss had commissioned Mr. “Spiv” Malory’s scandal sheet on his most formidable political opponent. Indeed, during the last election season, the editor-publisher of the Africawatch Magazine had floated a drug-bust story about the three-time Presidential Candidate of Ghana’s main opposition New Patriotic Party. And when the latter media smear miserably failed to stick on its target, Mr. Malory cooked up some bogus narrative about a terminally ill Nana Akufo-Addo whose wife was earnestly pleading for him to drop out of the race for the Jubilee-Flagstaff House.
Back then, the writer was widely alleged to have miserably failed to extort some unspecified sum of bribe money from the former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. To be certain, the New Patriotic Party is a far cry from suffering a crisis of leadership, being that in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the three-time running-mate, or Vice-Presidential Candidate, of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo has the best qualified presidential pinch-hitter in the country today and to-date.
