In honour to Thomas Akwasi Owusu-Afriyie haven greatly improved on my understanding of Africa
“The problem of Africa is the Black Man’s mind and especially the women’s character,” was Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi not tried to preach. “You men,” did he point into the Congregation, “better ensure to keep your sippers closed and not to use your manhood all the time. I have seen many people here, they only come to Church because they want to chase men to enjoy and provide for them. And men are here that have a good look around to see which woman to enjoy, they are not interested in the Knowledge I preach, the wisdom I share.”
He got angry, climbed up the three steps on stage, prominently centered at the head of the Auditorium to be an impressive center of his Mandate to teach the church and world the laws of an attractive life to prosper in Christianity and earthly Life. “When stand here I always look around and see what is going on in front of me. Do you think I do not know,” he put his right hand pointing finger to his lips, stretched is head to observe the reaction, stood still with wide opened eyes, hold his breath and continued, “I am a Prophet and when I speak, I can see everything that GOD is revealing to me. I know that even Pastors cannot keep their sippers closed, nor Deacons and Elders. Women come here to present their new hair, dress and bottom to the men to be attracted to. That is not what means to live an attractive life…seriously and truly not!”
He stepped down to the Church floor, walked up and down before the seats of the Elders and Deacons, watching them intensively, checking any reflections of his words on their mind and in their heart. Than he came out by declaring: “I am not responsible when any child is born here out of adultery and enjoyment…I am not!” He stood still, looked into their eyes, watching even the smallest reaction in their faces. Silence was hanging like a cloud of ignorance and unbelief in the Auditorium. No one dared to speak out, even not the under aged girl in the back that had sex with her brother the night before.
“The mistakes of Adam were many, one of which was that he allowed the woman, Eva, make him sin against GOD by listening to a serpent. He was not a Man GOD wanted to have as the first Human for which reason he had to send his only beloved son generations later for the much needed change.”
Gideon Mensah walked down the rough road on the way to Coco Beach in Nungua with high expectation to discuss life matters with a newly joined Church Member of the Royal Family in Kumasi, someone that was the Nephew of the Otumfo sitting on the Golden Stool. He rang the Bell of the House painted in light Green, the first one in the road. Neighbours did not know who he was making sure he kept a very low profile for his own security and protection of his future.
Sitting on the read sofa in front of the giant Flat screen with his favorite Mexican Series showing, Thomas Akwasi Owusu-Afriyie said being convinced: “The right way forward and to change Africa is in the Power of changing women.” He paused for moments in which a needle was to be heard falling to the bright tiles that covered the floor. He wanted to understand whether Gideon Mensah was with him. Than he continued lecturing: “Look into History and you will see that not Dictatorship can change Africa once and for all… to fix all our problems…this is only what women can do when they have dignity, grace, understanding about themselves, carry themselves very well, gain knowledge about life and in life, acknowledge the true role a woman has to play in life and can and should to transform the acquired wisdom into society. Our women must learn not to open their legs for enjoyment, achieving Governmental positions or pregnancy but for domination and change. Men in our country in Politics are all friends across the Party Spectrum. When they show their teeth in public, it is only an exercise as they will never bite or finish someone off. People in Ghana like to steal money and smile, still want to be seen as good people and once exposed, do not want to accept punishment rather reconciliation; unlike in Nigeria, where people simply get killed or kidnapped easily.” He smiled with understanding knowing the young man has a difficult time understanding a man that had lived in many countries of the White Man around the world. On the Sofa, next to the Nana, was a plate sitting with his Morning Breakfast half eaten given the scenery something like the Portraits of the old Masters around Rembrandts time in Holland. With a smile he continued saying: “Here in Africa, I am telling you, to show off with big cars, fancy dressed, spending money anyhow on food and drinks, on music and entertainment, is only because the African man wants to enjoy many women. So the cars run on bank loans and the pocket money for the girl-friends is taken from others by corruption. It is the woman that is delivering life, educating children, given them food; while it is the man, and what he carries between his legs, that make him gab the positions he find himself in in our society here in Africa. The Black Man has no interest to care for the future of his family and the generations after him or for the country at large; all he is interested in is the money he holds in his hand now to chop. Once it is finished, it is finished and he is back in his poverty. I have studied the White Man very carefully during thirty years abroad and have come to the conclusion, white people are interested in what they can do for the country, what change they can bring to the table, not by Titles, or cars, houses and so on. When we do not change our mentality, we should not ask for loan from outside and beg the White Man for donor money. What for?” He raised his arms in anger:” We here in Africa have much more than the White Man over there; we only do not have the mind to generate prosperity from it.”
“It was after the end of World War II, husbands and fathers had lost their lives in Europe and North-Africa, Mothers with little children were left behind to care for the next generation of Germans. UN Aid organizations were not in place except CARE to feed them from time to time with parcels filled with some food items. The Mothers bended down or got on their knees, cleaned brick after brick from the rubble of bombed houses during sunshine, rain, storm and snow, put them aside to rebuild cities across the country, to make life come back to life for their children to have a good education and better future. They sacrificed their future for their children; without their effort Germany would have not been the riches country in Europe and forth in the world. This is what I have learnt from the Internet and at school,” was Gideon Mensah happy to contribute some knowledge to the exciting conversation, looked into the face of Thomas acknowledging the family history he had inherited in his body shape.
“Also, do not forget that Ronald Reagan was not the real power of America, it was his wife Nancy that had pushed him to be where he was and what he did. The same applies to Michelle Obama, as Barak Obama was and is not the powerful and ambitious person to rule America; it was and is always his wife; as the saying goes, behind every strong man is a strong woman,” did Thomas Akwasi Owusu-Afriyie mention by getting up and walking up and down the spacious Living room with separate areas to host Guests. “And do not forget the Sabinerians in ancient Greek, when their husbands went to war, they sealed their legs with a special metal slip and locked it with a padlock demanding from their husbands to end war before they allowed them to have sex with them again. So, look at it carefully, not military strategy or intellectual capability ended a war; it was pure sex, the emotional power women have. We have to learn from history!”
“I think, I understand what you want to teach me, as around the world we can see more and more women taking charge in Politics. It is a slow process, but a process that cannot be reversed,” Gideon Mensah looked down on himself, seeing how simple yet neat he was dressed, took his water bottle, closed it again and continued: “Looking into some Arab countries it is obvious a power struggle is fast approaching. While the rich Men enjoy their toys like Ferraris and Rolls-Royce, jetting around the Globe to enjoy leisure time on their expensive Yachts … it are the women that manage the Affairs of the countries in Government offices. Time will come, only they know how to run the country’s affairs and leave their husbands out on the expensive playground. It is exciting to see how this development will play out in Muslim dominated countries… the Wife above the head of the Husband!”
“A woman is emotion driven, a Man finds his way in life by using his intellectual capacity. What is more important in life?”
“Oh, for that…no for that I cannot give a quick answer,” was Gideon Mensah’s answer nervously touching his forehead, trying to breath regularly in and out.
“Emotions help us to survive, Intellect helps us to keep direction and stand firm on our grounds.”
“Oh…mh, mh…I do not know,” was all Gideon Mensah was able to respond.
“What brings food on the table?”
“Money? Hard work on the farms?”
“Hunger!” was the only word Thomas Akwasi Owusu-Afriyie had to say to make his point.
“Hunger?”
“Yes, hunger brings food on the table. Our Body tells us when he needs energy, which is food. Without food our body knows it will die. So, the Body, our Emotions force our Brain to work and ask our Intellect to come up with a solution how best and easiest to get food on a daily and regular basis…right?”
“So, it seems to be in life,” did Gideon Mensah appreciate and honour the words spoken to him.
“So, it is in life … it applies also to making children. When we come of age, it is our Emotions, our Hormones that direct us to have sex, to look to the other sex’s body to find a solution for our sexual desire. It is our brain, trained by family and society, that tells us when to regulate our desire to make it acceptable and beneficial for us…that is all. Do not think that we, so highly educated, are so much different from the Neandertaler in the cave…we are very much still like him. Among Lions it is the female Lion that feeds the family, this also applies for Elephants and others.”
“Emotions are the driving force behind human development guided and guarded by our Intellect…is that basically what you are saying?”
“In simple words, basically that is what I mean,” did Thomas Akwasi Owusu-Afriyie agree by walking up and down the room again checking through the curtains what the noise he was hearing was all about.
“So, we must influence our emotions to find the answer for our future, right?”
“Correct, and for our societies in Africa it means, we have to work on our women for them to understand their vital role for our societies. We must teach them to stand strong, use their emotional capacity to develop a productive and constructive mindset, nurture future generations of men that can support the course for a permanent change and improvement.”
“Please make it very clear to me, why are these not the Men that have to dominate the World and carry on their shoulders the responsibility for a change here in Africa; I miss that special detail,” was Gideon Mensah rubbing his eye-brows over and over again feeling the long hair they have grown to.
“Women are Emotions and Men are Intellect, that is clear to you so far…good! Women are the start of life of every Human being, that is also clear to you…fine! Humans live in an emotional and intellectual system… all of us… female and male…also understood?”
“Yes, Sir,”
“Good!” was Thomas Akwasi Owusu-Afriyie happy to see that his teachings had an impact on the young man sitting before him intensively listening to all his words spoken to understand him very well in all details lectured. ”Emotions are at a lower level than the Intellect. The Intellect is always the higher system for which reason you can add this higher System to the lower system, the Emotions, but you cannot add a lower System on top of a higher system…that will not work. For this reason it is obvious and clear, that when the women improve on their emotional system by adding more intellectual capacity and capability, they will take the Human race far on its journey to Humanity; while when men add more of the emotional system to their intellectual system, what are they improving on as they already have been and are Humans with an emotional system that is suppressed by their intellectual system. Do you get me?”
“It is not easy to follow your words, but I have the feeling somehow it makes sense and something deep is behind them.”
“You start your thinking process by having certain emotions about words and ideas…about what you hear and imagine…do you see what I mean?”
“Emotions are the start in Life and the process in life…is this said in the right way?” asked Gideon Mensah coming to a higher level of understanding. He was glad to have a teacher in him that can make complicated matters understandable in simple words and expressions. He was most grateful for the opportunity to know that men before him.
“You are on the right track of understanding.”
“So, it relates to the point that we here in Africa need to ask and encourage the Women to change their mind, reflect seriously on their inner capacity, their meaning for Life and their current position and contribution for African Societies not only to influence the strong Men behind the scene but also to come out in the open to take charge of the development of their countries.”
“I can see, I am a good teacher when even you can understand what I am saying,” Thomas Akwasi Owusu-Afriyie laughed while he was bringing him to the brown coated gate that fenced a green garden in front of the house. He turned round, stretched out his arms, pointed to the house that he had built twenty year before and commented:” See, this house I have because I live…and I live because my mother gave birth to me…you see, how simple life is when we get back to our roots and learn to appreciate life as it presents itself to us.”
“Ok, Sir, I see and understand.”
“I trust you will,” closed Thomas Akwasi Owusu-Afriyie the heavy Entrance Door behind him while Gideon Mensah stepped out on the wet rough road filled with small water potholes that made life in Accra so difficult.
