Ministry Of Education
Accra
Dear Sir,
THANK YOU FOR THE POSTINGS BUT WHAT ABOUT ‘US’?
I write to say a very big thank you to you, the Ministry of Education and the Government for posting the 16,432 graduands from our various Public Colleges of Education this year. I saw how happy you were when you proudly posted on your facebook wall yesterday that “All 16,432 graduates of our Colleges of Education are kindly informed to expect the release of their postings next week.”
Many including myself thought that the scrapping of the allowance meant no ready job after school and I am not sure you will grudge any of us for thinking so since even Hon. Alex Segbefia the minister for Health even gave the reason for scrapping the Nursing Trainees allowance as to also scrap the bond governments have been bonding students hence no ready jobs after school, so it was absolutely not of place for anyone to think that that was what was going to happen to the teacher trainees as well.
Now to my reason for this letter, Honourable, forgive me for having to write to you instead of your substantive minister or the president. My reasons for writing to you are based on the fact that, you are in charge of tertiary education and so it will not be out of place to write to you. Again as a former student leader, I believe you will understand the plight of the students more. Sir the ‘us’ in my heading does not actually refers to where I schooled but refers to students from the Private Colleges of Education.
Sir, as a young man who did my one semester compulsory academic internship in a private College of Education, (Methodist College of Education, Akyem Asene/Aboabo, Oda) I know very well the plight these young ones go through as they seek to get the same qualification like their counterparts in the public colleges yet they are not treated same as their counterparts after school.
Unfortunately, students from these schools have not got a voice that speaks for them and so it appears that nobody really cares about their problems. Honourable I am therefore on their behalf writing to ask that having posted all their counterparts from the public schools, what will you as a former student leader and a Deputy Minister in charge of tertiary education, your ministry and the government do to these ones.
